"To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold" - Aristotle
Winter is often the least appreciated of the seasons. Summer is synonymous with the sun, sea, and relaxation, spring is defined by colour and warmth, autumn trees are a wonder to look at... and winter? Winter is cold and dark.
But without winter, one cannot experience the beauty of a snowflake, the colours of the rainbow, and the soft pitter-patter of the rain...
Here are some lines I scribbled on a cold and rainy afternoon:
Winter
Winter,
When rain clears the ashes of yesterday,
Promising a bright new day and a bright new way.
Winter,
When the cold is cancelled out by a fireplace,
and by the warmth radiating from a friendly face.
Winter,
When storms cry out and rage on,
But result in a snow-covered lawn.
Winter,
When one must look out for a rainbow,
And for the light and warmth that follow.
Many are those who prefer summer,
But winter is the season for me.
Beneath its cold and dark days,
It's a season of prosperity.

See? Winter is not all that bad 😉
