Experiencing and Re-experiencing a JoBros Concert

During times of crisis, the mind finds comfort in escaping the present so as to revisit experiences or places of the past.

*rewinds back to Milan, February 2020*

When the Jonas Brothers broke up, my heart was in two and I couldn’t find the other half. When they got back together, then, happiness began. Now if you’ve comprehended and appreciated these (somewhat cringy) puns, you’re the real JoBros fan and thereby deserve to be told all about the experience of attending a Jonas Brothers concert in Milan.

Being the ultimate Disney Channel fan, the Jonas Brothers formed a significant part of my childhood. Ten-year-old me took pride in singing along to their songs on Camp Rock and watching their series Jonas. Soon after, I was to come across ‘S.O.S’, ‘Burnin' Up’ and ‘Paranoid’, songs which remained close to my heart until adulthood. I therefore spent this Valentine’s Day showering Joe, Nick, and Kevin with love from Row 10, Seat 4 at the Mediolanum Forum.

The Jonas Brothers put on quite the show. Opening the concert with ‘Rollercoaster’, they went from a sweet rendition of ‘Hesitate’ to the stage literally burning up during ‘Burnin' Up’ (the gif here serves to conjure up a visual image).

Throughout, the Forum felt like it was going to burst with the sound of fans singing along (I’m pretty sure my best friend and I significantly contributed to this, but let’s not get into that). I cannot omit mentioning that this was also my very first concert, and I can say that the expectations were lived up to. It is one experience that will most likely stay with me until I'm grey and old.

The child in me was on cloud nine, thanking me for fulfilling a dream of hers. It’s true that I left the concert having lost my voice, but, in return, I gained an experience like no other, one that I currently enjoy revisiting upon listening to a JoBros song from the confines of my room.

S.O.S – I heard the brothers are about to release another album! 🎶
