"Your success and happiness lie in you" - Helen Keller
We all want to be successful.
But what exactly defines being successful in life? Is it synonymous with getting straight As, graduating, getting an esteemed job, and being financially stable? Is it about being liked and having many friends? About getting married in your twenties?
Perhaps being and feeling successful goes beyond:
Success
Success in life is not about degrees, jobs, or money. It's when love
underpins everything you do. It's about
constantly feeling joy and
constantly bringing joy to others;
everything may not be perfect, but
success is having a positive mindset nonetheless. Most of all,
success is realising that the best things in life are not things.
Really and truly, success is not tangible. For me, being successful in life means being happy. Being proud of the life I lead. Standing by my choices and decisions. Being a good friend but also enforcing boundaries. Finding joy in the little things. Surrounding myself with people who make me happy, and trying my best to give back some of that happiness.
And although we talk about success as though it's a thing of the future, success is a journey, rather than a destination. You guessed it, here comes that clichéd quote:
But it's true. Your daily choices and approaches to life all contribute to success.
And you, dear reader, deserve all the success and happiness in the world.
